March 2013 meet up
Permalink

Well February is almost done. Looking to march to see if anyone wants to schedule a meet up. I will make this one.

The feB meet up at wash-ita looked like alot of fun. I am still ticked I didn't make it. I think I am going to sell the snow business so this isn't a issue again.

So any ideas on places and dates?

Sounds like fun. Is it private land? Do we need a permit or anything to ride? Would love to see some video or pics.

Would march 16 or 17 work this month? I was thinking finger lakes, st joes or the place wallis was taking about depending on legalities.

I would definitely like to check out Wallis's place. Rode mine last weekend for the first time since the fire, it's still black but it still runs!

I mean we all just have our county forestry stickers but we ride through town to the gas station and if your respectfull and stay off the highway its all fine the land is old mine property we could meet in a big parking lot in town and unload and ride out from there. I have about other people that will forsure go with us. I have a few pics from this weekend mostly us playing in the mud.

It looks like fun. Just looking on google maps it is a big place. The flats look smaller than st joes. But I like trails and mud more. I am up for it if everone else is. Just need to know how to get forestry permits so were legal. Is the entire area there abandoned? Also are there trails all around the flats and lake?

There are probably 10 small lakes around, and the trails are all linked togther by the mining haul roads which they dont haul on weekends ill see what i can find out about the forestry permits we all just bought new bikes and none of us have even got ours yet. i have yet to ever be asked to see mine. and as far as the area being abondonded it is and it isnt most of the mines are still operational but were we ride is pretty well abondoned.

It looks like there is a planned ride on 3/16-17 by another group in virburnum. http://www.ridemtra.com I left a message on their board. I do not know if they are currently active. They didn't have much info on their ride just the dates for the most part.

Regardless if everone is good with it I will set up the march meetup for virburnum. 3/16 or 17th.

We were riding in West Alton and got a call for a cop that we were trespassing.
Wallis have you found out if we need a permit or anything? Helmets, flags? I hate to make the trip and get in trouble and then have to drive home with tickets. Also what day are we looking at?

No you don't need any permit if your just down for the day were going to arrange it with the city cops so it will be fine we don't wear helmets or flags they are all personal preference Saturday would be the best for us how many people are coming?
