Go to the home page, scroll down and on the bottom right side there is a little subscribe button. Hit it and you should be scubscribed to the forum and you will recive all notifications. This is a good way to do it, now you wont miss out on rides, ride info, are any other vital information.
You can also just subscribe to certain threads if you like, it's done the same way.
To check your subscriptions you just click on your screen name in the upper right corner and you'll be in your account page, from there you can manage your subscriptions.
