Well now that September is almost behind us it is that time to start thinking about the next event. Moolight was a heck of a good time. I was thinking of somewhere in Ill just because I have never rode over there. But I also have no idea what is over there either. I am good with staying in missouri if someone has a place here they wanna try. I am up for a weekend or just one day depending on where we go.
i'd like to help but there doesn't seem to be much in illinois (which is where i live) I have always went to missouri to ride. You can check out a place called Little Egypt Off Road but i think it's over 2 hours from st. louis and has a lot of rules.
Potawatomi Offroad Park seems not too bad Finger lakes. St. Joe. Wade Road Offroad Riding Area in Jeff city. I am just surfing the net at work... bored but getting paid. in IL: Rockport Off-Road Park Everything else I found in IL was far away.
How about black river? Kell and I know a couple of guys that live down that way that can give us a tour... keep in mind this is not your regular park, this is a forest of trails.

No, black river is in Mark Twain National Forest, there are hundreds of miles of trails so a guide and probably a gun is a must, lol. Its near Peidmont Mo, thats about 2.5 hours from Stl.

here is a list of a few of the riding areas down there: http://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/mtnf/recreation/ohv/?recid=21644&actid=93
The guys we know live in the area and there are a few trail heads near there house, this would definitely be a two day trip for me, I'll get some more info and get back to you.
Oh yeah, and I checked on Coyote run in Coultervill, Ill and it's 1/3 the size of moonlight so I don't know if that will do.

I have never been to IL to ride and have never seen any places to ride over there. So I thought I would see if anyone in the group knew of any place over there. But there may be no good places to ride over there close. I am good with riding in Missouri and doing a meet up here. Location is not as important as having a good time. We can go out highway 70 to fingerlakes in columbia 1 hour from st. charles, or I think there is a park in Fulton 40 minutes from st. charles which is closer to STL. Again I am just throwing out ideas, I am up for anywhere within about 2 -3 hours from stl.
Im gonna contact them and Ill let ya know, they dont have helmets or permits where they ride, the trails i posted or the listed ones. If I can find some video ill post it also.

I do think chad is right you do have to have your Atv stickers and buy a permit in that area. I read it somewhere that you had to go to a gas station and buy one.
Its near piedmont Mo, there are two buggy bashes down there a year with about 15-20 riders, maybe more, and the guy that responded to me and his friend Jeff usually host the events. I will get more info about the riding areas, and about how long are the trails. This is just a suggestion, some guys dont want to drive that far down, and im sure there are good places a little closer.
I am up for a weekend or just a day trip but I don't know everyone's schedule. I can go all but the third weekend in October and whatever day Halloween is. So far it looks like the place in piedmont(weekend), finger lakes or the place in Fulton. We can always go to st joes, moolight, or elsewhere. I want to try to firm up the place by monday so we can set the time/date for the meetup early this week so everyone has time to schedule.
This is the response that I got from my buddy that lives down that way:
Hey TJ, Great to hear from you. No you don't need a thing. Permit wise. Let me know when you want to ride with a guide. Any time, I don't work so Monday- Sunday is good for me. Jeff is off on week ends.
T3 where exactly is that riding area? I ride down in Black, MO a lot use to ride a lot of the mark twain trails. there are only 9 trails for a total of 25miles or so but they are far a part So a lot of fire/roads in between them. 2 permits are required one for mark twain national forest and one for Reynolds county. We ride mostly fire roads and other trails not to many marked trails any more.

I cojldnt do the 13 or 20th of october. Id like to check out potawatami or whatever the place is. Up for anything that is a day trip. I doubt I could do a weekend trip.
I can't do the 20th either the woman would kill me. I looked up the park on fulton chad is talking about and it looks nice. The info online may be a bit out of date on the site I looked up. The parks i have been to started catering to rock crawlers and let all the Atv tracks kinda fall apart. From the descriptions online it looks better than moonlight. Finger lakes is only 20 mins away if there is a problem with it and I know that place is fun.
